Salary: £20,200 pro rata
(6 month fixed-term contract)
University of the Arts London is a vibrant world centre for innovation, drawing together six Colleges with international reputations in art, design, fashion, communication and performing arts.
We are pleased to work with Save the Children in a Knowledge Transfer Partnership (KTP) on a high profile project to gain a deeper understanding of what images are more likely to raise funds for the charity and where the ethical boundaries of such images lie. Working closely with a team of academic supervisors at LCC and the photography and film team at Save the Children, this role is fundamental to the project. The research and subsequent guidelines produced will shape the imagery used by the charity for fundraising, marketing and media purposes.
Save the Children works in the UK and 49 other countries across the world providing immediate assistance during natural disasters and conflict situations as long term development work.
You will research into NGOs current use of images for fundraising purposes. You will advise and liaise with external agencies carrying out research on behalf of Save the Children into the ethical use of images for fundraising. This research will be carried out in the UK and overseas. You will collate, analyse and interpret the data and identify imagery that sets Save the Children apart. You will then draw up guidelines and train staff in their use and the underlying principles.
Degree educated in a relevant field, you will combine knowledge of visual communication theories with qualitative and quantitative research methodologies. Any NGO experience and knowledge of ethical marketing practices will help you, as will excellent communication, project management and interpersonal skills.
In return, we offer a competitive employment package including a salary that reflects working in London; generous annual leave; a final salary pension scheme; and a commitment to your continuing personal and career development in an environment that encourages creativity, diversity and excellence.
