The University of St Andrews is seeking to appoint a
University Librarian and Director of Library Services of
exceptional ability. This post represents a unique
opportunity to shape the role of the Library in the future
of this successful research-intensive University and in the
creation and maintenance of a Library which meets both
institutional needs and the individual requirements of
students, staff and members of the local and wider
communities. The University will shortly celebrate the 600th
anniversary of its foundation, and as we prepare to enter
our seventh century of academic exploration, we are
searching for an inspirational and experienced librarian to
lead the University Library in the delivery of a modern and
effective library system.
As Director of Library Services, you will have a thorough
understanding of how a University Library interacts with the
teaching and research activities of a highly-rated academic
institution. You will bring to this position proven
qualities of leadership and vision, together with a high
degree of organisational, planning and financial experience.
Your remit will include responsibility for the successful
delivery of the interim library upgrade project, and more
generally for helping the University of St Andrews fulfill
its vision for the future of the institution's library
system. The possessor of excellent skills in human-resource
management and communications, you will also use your
outstanding interpersonal skills to manage change in the
Library.
